Mate, don’t get me started on Money Saving… its my favourite thing these days!
My biggest tip to anyone would be to subscribe to the MoneySavingExpert.com’s newsletter here for up to date news on any fantastic offers or loopholes in which you can save a few quid, or better still, profit!
I have a couple of things on the go at the moment, the biggest being Matched betting, whereby you use a win-win technique to extract cash from bookies in the for of free bets, the other is claiming back bank charges from overdraft fees/bounced cheques/etc, over the past 6 years. This alone equates to £1500.
Martin Lewis really is the man, he runs his site on a no profit basis, earning his fees by appearing on TV and radio, etc. and to watch him he’s a really cool guy, he puts things across simply (and a lot of money issues can be very complicated, which is one of the reasons people get into so much trouble), he’s funny and so keeps you watching, and his preachings makes a lot of sense. I’ve learned a lot from him, and a lot from people on the forums at his site.
The above book is generally a "best of" listing some of the better tips on the forum. Heres a couple of great tips I’ve picked up:
1. When cleaning your teeth, turn the tap off if your not using it!
2. Put a sheet of tin foil in the bottom of the oven, then, when your pie drips onto it, you don’t have to get the oven cleaner out, just replace the foil when it gets too clatty.
3. Don’t buy kitchen cleaner/bathroom cleaner/carpet cleaner/etc. buy Stardrops. you can use it for cleaning EVERYTHING, and it works better than most of the above. ask your grandmother.
4. matched betting: do it. unlimited profit.
5. Claim back your bank charges. do it NOW, hundreds of people have succesfully claimed back 1000’s of pounds.
6. Kelkoo.co.uk
7. fatfingers.co.uk
8. subscribe to the newsletter
9. Profit $$$
Youve converted me jim… ive already downgraded from my precious Stella-Artios and am now going to only exclusivlely drink Carling instead..
Apparently on a serious note the number one cost saver is something we all come across, which is turning lights off after you leave a room, for which i admit i have in the past been a culprit.
Thats right Wax, ALSO, switching to the low-energy bulbs can save you about £20 a year, per bulb!
The theory is sound, at least…
